Mulderrigs helped Kate Weston from London SW6 with her successful hair damage claim against a salon in New Cross.

Kate had gone to the salon for a Brazilian blow-dry straightening treatment.

But the treatment went horribly wrong.

A Brazilian blow-dry is a complex treatment which should only be carried out by a specialist hairdresser.

In Kate’s case the hairdresser didn’t carry out any strand test.

As a result Kate suffered damage to her hair and steam burns to her scalp during the treatment.

The Law On Hair Damage Claims

A hairdresser has a legal duty to take care for the safety of their client.

The chemicals, bleaches and colours used in a salon can be extremely dangerous if not used properly.

So only properly qualified stylists should carry out specialists processes like Brazilian blow-drys, colours and so on.

A hairdresser who is in breach of their legal duty can be ordered to pay compensation for the hair damage they cause.

The Claim Against The Hairdresser

Mulderrigs have dealt with several hundred successful hair claims against negligent hairdressers.

So we agreed to take on Kate’s claim and we agreed to act on “no win no fee” terms.

We arranged to obtain expert evidence from a  hair expert (a trichologist).

The trichologist said that Kate’s hair would take two and a half years to recover from the damage.

The hairdresser denied doing anything wrong, so we brought county court proceedings.

The insurers for the negligent hairdresser agreed to negotiate as the trial was approaching.

Kate then accepted a settlement offer of £4,500.
